Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) have successfully implemented Airport Hive to replace their legacy AODB. Airport Hive has been developed by airport software specialist Azinq. Based in Sci-Tech Daresbury, which sits within the Liverpool City Region, it’s proved to be a great regional success story.
Due to aging architecture that plagues most AODBs on the market today, it became a challenge to digitally evolve and innovate. Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) have taken a new wave approach to airport operations having successfully gone live with Airport Hive, which is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The transition of Airport Hive into the production environment took place at midday on 21st November 2023 and it went smoothly, without any issues or impact on the operation.
Airport Hive is the natural choice to replace their AODB. It is a modern cloud based modular suite of airport operational products, that provide a direct replacement for a traditional AODB which includes Billing, Resource Management, and much more.
In adopting Airport Hive LJLA have future-proofed their airport management system, providing huge flexibility delivered through its API led design, with event-driven microservices architecture. They can now access all their data securely and easily incorporate many systems into their airport eco-system. This will turbocharge operational efficiency, empower data-driven collaborative decision-making, and enhance the passenger experience.
As an agile platform, Airport Hive’s modular design allows components to be developed and updated separately and then plugged in when required. It can continue to adapt and evolve without any operational disruption and stay up to date with the latest technologies. This ensures Airport Hive is always supported and evolves continually.
By replacing their monolithic AODB with Airport Hive they can meet the requirements for independent scaling, accelerated deployment, and flexible hosting. They are now in a great position to take advantage of their airport operational information with cloud, REST APIs, IoT, AI, machine learning and other future technologies and functionalities.
